Medicine Conflict and Survival

The latest issue, 24.3 - August 2008, focuses on the importance of history in the medical peace movement with a guest editorial by Leo van Bergen of the Dutch Affiliate, NVMP, Medicine and War: The value of historical knowledge.
 
This issue also carries an article by Ian Fairlie on New evidence of childhood leukaemias near nuclear power stations … This article is freely downloadable from the web site.
 
There are also reports on the excellent IPPNW World Congress in Delhi in April.
 
The next issue, 24.4, due out on October focuses on the IPPNW “Aiming for Prevention” Programme with papers by Diego Zavala, Ime John, Robert Mtonga, Andrew Pinto amongst others, and a guest editorial by Robert Muggah -  An armed violence prevention and reduction agenda . Several of these papers had been presented at the 9th World Conference on Injury Prevention and Safety Promotion held in Mexico earlier this year.  They include some ground-breaking work on injury surveillance in several African hospitals, an example of the excellent work of the project and cooperation between IPPNW affiliates.
 
Issue 23.4 (October 2007), which carried several papers related to the IPPNW conference , ‘The Final Pandemic Preventing Proliferation and Achieving Abolition’  held in London last year, is available as a free sample through the web site. www.informaworld.com/smpp/mcs
