IDPD condemns Trump’s plan to take over Gaza

This will push the region into deep Humanitarian crisis

The Indian Doctors for Peace and Development (IDPD) has condemned in strong words the plan of US President Donald Trump to annexe Gaza and to push 2.3 million residents out to Egypt and Jordan to resettle there. Trump has further said that they will have no right to return. His statement has been rejected by the Palestinians who will resist any such attempt which will lead to serious bloodshed.

This amounts to plan to annihilate the Palestinians. Trump has warned that ‘hell will breakout if all the hostages are not returned’; the Hamas on the other hand has blamed Israel of violating the ceasefire agreement. This is reminiscent of dark ages of colonialism. Trump has already talked of gaining control of Greenland and Panama Canal and changed the name of Gulf of Mexico to Gulf of America.

In the statement Dr Arun Mitra – President and Dr Shakeel Ur Rahman – General Secretary have appealed to all peaceloving forces and countries to vehemently oppose this dangerous rhetoric. Millions of people sacrificed their lives fighting against colonialism in the past. Thousands of Indians laid down their lives fighting against British colonial power. It is therefore important that Indian government should take a firm stand on this and Prime Minister Modi should in explicit terms refer this to US president during his upcoming visit to USA. Such rhetoric must be stopped right in the beginning before they spread their tentacles as Trump will not stop at Gaza but go further beyond. Such situations if escalate the threat of use of nuclear weapons will increase which would be catastrophic.
