NIAC Press Release

Iranian Americans Say NO to War!

The Indian Doctors for Peace and Development (IDPD) expresses serious concern at the tension developing between US and Iran. Latest reports of withdrawal of US citizens from Iraq raise fear of impending war in the region. In the statement Dr Arun Mitra, Co-President International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War (IPPNW) and Senior Vice President IDPD, Dr S S Soodan-President IDPD and Dr Shakeel Ur Rahman-General Secretary IDPD said that aggressive postures by the US are uncalled for. Earlier the US put sanctions on sale of oil from Iran. The relaxation period is now over and India too has been asked to stop import of oil from Iran. These are tactics to ruin economy of Iran. We have already seen collateral damage caused during aggression on Iraq by the allied forces. That had adversely affected the life of people. Children were left without medicines as a result of which large number of children died. We appeal to the US to stop aggressive posture and take away sanctions imposed on Iran in the interest of peace. Any war in the area will have global ramifications. We appeal to the UN and entire world community to intervene and prevent situation from escalating.
